Busking for charity raises £4,000 for Breast Screening Department

Local fundraisers, Brian Dakin and Tim Thursfield from Busking for Charity, have raised an impressive £4,000 to support the Breast Screening Department at Russells Hall Hospital.

Thanks to their fundraising efforts, the department has been able to purchase a VELA Mammogram Chair, which provides a safe and comfortable seat for patients when they arrive at the clinic. The specialist chair is particularly helpful for patients with mobility or balance difficulties, helping to improve accessibility and comfort during appointments.

The chair also supports staff by allowing patients to be positioned at a lower height during mammography procedures, helping to reduce strain and improve working conditions. Its mobility and reliable wheel-lock system also allow for safer and easier patient positioning during examinations.

Brian and Tim, known as the “Busketeers”, raised the funds through a range of community activities, including organising charity sports events, busking in towns across the region and hosting creative arts shows at venues throughout the Black Country.
