Tesla Car Donations

Young patients waiting for surgery at Russells Hall Hospital will be happily driving along the corridors in style before their surgery, thanks to the efforts of the Dudley Group NHS Charity. 

The hospital charity arranged for the donation of two mini-Tesla cars through the Tesla Owners Group UK initiative to help young patients alleviate their anxieties before their surgery and enhance patient experience at the hospital.  

Young patients can experience worry, uncertainty and anxiety before their surgery and it is difficult for them to understand what is going to happen before, during and after it, so the cars provide a perfect distraction tool.  

Simon Greggory, Matron of Theatres, quotes: “The staff really appreciate the kind donation from the Tesla Owners Club, as it allows us to ease the anxieties of our little patients as well as their parents or caregivers, making that journey into the operating theatres a bit more fun and engaging.” 

Samantha Powers, Fundraising and Events Manager, said: “Thank you to Tesla Owners Group UK for donating the cars to our Children’s and Theatres departments. Our young patients will be thrilled to be able to have such a fun filled journey to their operations, which can be quite a daunting experience.”

Deryn Harvey, Coordinator Mini Tesla programme, said: “Tesla Owners UK Car Club is delighted that the Dudley Group NHS Charity has accepted a donation of two mini-Tesla electric vehicles for use on the wards at the hospital. We hope the car brings joy and helps alleviate anxiety in young children. They really can drive themselves to the theatre.  

These mini-Teslas are from a pool of over 500, which, since 2017 have been placed in children’s hospices and hospital wards across the UK all thanks to our members’ donations.”
